Ornate Pair Chinese / Southeast Asian Silver Repousse Beakers / Cups
Presented is a lovely pair of silver repousse beakers or cups from the 19th
century. These cups are either Chinese export silver or of southeast Asian make,
such as Indonesia, India, etc. Whatever the case, the beakers are quite well
made, beautifully chased with intricate foliate scrollwork surrounding oval
vignettes of trees and buildings. In between the ovals are quatrefoils which
could be monogrammed or engraved. Each cup has a capacity of about 8-9 fluid
ounces, depending on how far you fill it, of course.
This pair of cups is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no dents,
no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The cups are not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested them with nitric
acid and guarantee them to be at least 900 purity silver.
Each cup stands about 5 1/8 inches tall.
The total weight for the pair is 417 grams or 14.7 regular ounces.
