Description

This large oval silver bowl was made in the former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) by an unkown maker with the initials TR in the 1930s.
Provenance: Bought at a Dutch antique auction.
Silver grade: 800/1000
Weight: 265.8 grams or approx. 8.55 ounces.
Diameter: 27 centimeter or approx. 10.63 inches.
Height: 5.5 centimeter or approx. 2.2 inches.
Condition: The bowl is in a good condition. The three feet have a bit push through and these small dents can be seen from the inside of the bowl. This is quite common.
The name Djokja / Yogya silver originates from the town name of Djokjakarta, Java, Indonesia.
Between 1930 and 1970, a lot of silver was made in Kota Gede, a town next to Djokjakarta.
All Djokja silver are hand made and therefore every piece is unique.
