1) OLD MINELAB PODS ARE TAPERED AND WERE MANUFACTURED WITH ACRYLIC PLASTIC WHICH DETERIORATES WITH AGE AND SUNLIGHT. WHEN          THE POD STARTS SHOWING CRAZE MARKS- SMALL STRESS FRACTURES IN THE CLEAR PLASTIC IT IS TIME TO GET A NEW POD.
THE MINELAB ALKALINE POD IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE  DIVING POD...BUT HALF THE PRICE.
2) THE OLD PODS ARE ALSO TAPERED SO DO NOT FORCE THE BATTERY ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE POD. LUBE THE EDGES OF THE PACK WITH DIELECTRIC GREASE AND ONLY PUSH IT DOWN ENOUGH TO GET THE ENDCAP INSTALLED.
