When the National Wild Turkey Federation was founded in 1973, there were about 1.3 million wild turkeys in North America. After decades of dedicated work, that number hit an historic high of almost 7 million turkeys. The foundation of their success? Standing behind science-based conservation and hunters’ rights.
Since 1976 the Federation has issued annual stamps based on the artwork of many of America's most noted wild life artists. Each year artists submit their best art for selection for the Federation's annual limited edition print. The winning best artist has his print published in a limited edition and a corresponding stamp is issued.
David Maass, essentially a self-taught wildlife illustrator, was born on November 27, 1929 in Rochester, Minnesota. David Maass’ career as a wildlife artist spans five decades. His reputation as one of the foremost painters of nature art did not occur over night. This kind of recognition and the earned respect of both his peers and the public has come one painting at a time, through weeks, months and years of skillful dedication to his avocation.
Maass has won thirty-three duck and conservation stamp competitions, including two of the coveted Federal Duck Stamp Contests, one of them in 1974, when he was also chosen Artist of the Year by Ducks Unlimited. He has been named Artist of the Year and feature artist by many other exhibitions and conservation organizations, including the National Wild Turkey Federation and the National Wildlife Art Collectors Society. Maass has raised millions of dollars for conservation causes through donations of his original artworks and limited edition prints.
This auction is for a 1979 David Maass Wild Turkey Research Stamp and brochure as pictured.
Condition: This brochure and stamp is in very good condition considering it is about 40 years old.

No returns allowed unless item is not as described, unless otherwise specified. I  will accept returns with a valid reason. (This doesn't include change of mind!) Item must be returned in original condition (within 7 days of receipt), un-damaged.  Buyer to pay return postage. (Recorded Advisable) Refund will not include postage paid to deliver the item. The day it leaves the factory, it becomes one day closer to it's end date.  When I find these devices, I plug them in, wind them up or put in a battery. If they buzz, whirr or seem like they're doing what they are supposed to be doing, I keep them for auction. At that point in time, I have NO IDEA of how old or how much use they have incurred. They may last a lifetime, or fail the next time they are turned on. Therefore, I sell these as "Decorative or Ornamental purposes" only, not functional. Which may be referred to as "AS IS".
