    Description

    STRUCK FROM PROOF DIES!
    This 1850 Seated Dollar is certified by NGC as AU55.  Having a scant mintage of only 7,500 coins, this example has a super sharp strike, blazing white surfaces, and watery PL fields.  It was struck using Breen-5443 variety dies, which were used to make the Proof issue.  Only 20 Proofs were minted in 1850, making business strikes using the Proof Dies all the more intriguing!  Razor sharp rims and proof-like fields give this exquisite example the look of an extremely gently circulated Proof at first, and second glance!  PCGS lists ,000 in AU55, ,000 in AU58, and any PQ white 55 with watery fields will always command a premium.  A Proof, if you could find one, would be ,000.  A stunning Proof Die Business Strike Seated Dollar!
